What the morning changes

Same dunes, different day entirely. The evening safari builds towards a camp with dinner and a stage; this one does not go there at all. You are collected early, driven out, thrown around the sand and returned by lunchtime with the rest of your day still intact.

The driving

Morning sand is firmer and cooler, which drivers prefer and which makes the descents cleaner. There are also markedly fewer vehicles working the same slopes at this hour, so the dunes look untouched rather than tracked over.

The rest of it

A camel ride, a board for the slope and a stop for photographs. That is deliberately all — no henna, no stage, no meal.

Who it suits

Anyone unwilling to give up an evening, families with children who would not last until ten at night, and photographers who would rather have the sun low and to one side than flat overhead.

Frequently asked
How does this differ from the evening safari?

The evening version finishes at a camp with dinner and a stage show. This one is the driving and the desert itself, done by lunchtime.

Is the dune driving the same?

Yes, and arguably better. Morning sand is firmer and cooler, and far fewer vehicles are out on the same slopes.

Is any food provided?

No. This is a four-hour run with a photo stop rather than a meal, which is the main reason it is shorter.

Is it better for young children?

Often, since it avoids a late night. The driving itself is just as rough, so the usual cautions still apply.
