How it actually works

One loop, a fixed set of stops, and a bus along every half hour or so. You ride as far as you want, step off, stay as long as you like and pick up the next one. The pass covers consecutive days, which counts for more here than it would elsewhere: Abu Dhabi's landmarks are scattered across a wide city, and the distances between them are the reason this service exists at all.

Upstairs or downstairs

The top is open, and that is where the Corniche, the water and the towers look their best with no glass in between. It is also why the middle of the day needs planning — from about eleven until three the sun up there is unforgiving. Below, the cabin is cooled and enclosed, and most people end up moving between the two as the day goes on.

Using the stops well

The stops are not equal. The Grand Mosque and Louvre Abu Dhabi each deserve a couple of hours and each have their own entry procedure to work through. Heritage Village and the waterfront are quick. Yas Island sits at the far end, so choosing it commits a large slice of the day. Commentary plays through headphones at every seat and is genuinely worth listening to between stops rather than being filler.

Worth knowing

The final loop finishes earlier than people expect. Check the last departure from wherever you are heading before you commit to it — being stranded at the far end is a long ride back.

Frequently asked

How often do the buses come?

Roughly every thirty to forty-five minutes depending on the time of day. The gaps stretch later in the afternoon, so leave margin at the outer stops.

Does the pass include entry to the attractions?

No. The bus delivers you to each stop, but admission to places like Louvre Abu Dhabi and Ferrari World is arranged separately.

Can I see everything in a single day?

You can ride the whole circuit in a day, but you will not get inside much. Two days is the realistic minimum if you intend to stop properly.

Is there commentary in my language?

Eight are carried on the headphones at each seat: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Arabic and Russian.

Where does the route start?

Anywhere on the circuit. There is no fixed starting point, so join at whichever stop sits closest to where you are staying.
