A four-hour morning run into the dunes outside Abu Dhabi, built around the driving and the landscape rather than the evening camp programme most people picture.

Dates, Arabic coffee and bottled water at the camp
Wind works on the dunes overnight and wipes them clean, so a vehicle arriving early finds slopes with nothing written on them — no tyre tracks, no footprints, just the ripple pattern the wind leaves behind. By mid-afternoon the same faces have been churned by everything that came through. It is a small thing that turns out to matter a great deal in photographs.
There is no dinner, no dancing and no fire show. If the picture in your head is an evening camp with a buffet and a performance, this is not that trip. What you get instead is the desert itself with very few people in it, which is the whole point of going out this far.
At the edge of the sand the driver stops to let air out of the tyres, and that pause is the last calm moment for a while. Dune driving is a sequence of steep climbs, sideways slides down the far face and sudden drops, and a heavy breakfast beforehand is a mistake many people make once. Sit in the middle row if the movement bothers you.
From November through March it is genuinely pleasant, and a layer at dawn is not excessive. Between May and September the early start softens the heat rather than removing it — by nine the sand is already too hot to stand on barefoot.

What the fare covers, and what to budget for separately.
The practical detail, and the answers people actually ask for.
It is the driving and the landscape without the camp programme — no dinner, no performance. The desert is emptier and the dunes are untouched, which is the main reason to choose it.
Yes. Steep climbs, sideways descents and sudden drops in sequence. Eat lightly beforehand, and ask for a middle-row seat if you are prone to motion sickness.
To lower the tyre pressure, which lets the vehicle float on soft sand instead of digging into it. The pressure is put back up on the way out.
From November to March, yes, and you may want a layer at the start. From May to September the early hour reduces the heat rather than avoiding it.
Largely. Morning departures draw far fewer vehicles than evening ones, which is a large part of what you are choosing when you book this slot.
