A full day — around ten hours door to door.
Bali’s waterfalls are scattered across the island’s interior, down side roads and at the end of paths through the trees, and they are the reason to leave the beaches for a day. This is a full day of them, with a private car to get you between one and the next.
Choosing your packageThere are three packages, each covering a different set of falls. They vary in how far you travel and in the character of what you see — some falls drop into deep pools you can swim in, others thread down through cave-like gorges where the light comes in from above. Choose the package when you book.
What the day is likeTransport is private and door to door, from your hotel and back again, which is what makes a day like this workable: the falls are nowhere near each other, and the roads between them are slow.
At each stop there is a walk in — usually down, which means climbing back up. Steps are often steep, uneven and wet, and they are the reason to take this day seriously as a physical one rather than a scenic drive.
Worth knowingBring a towel, a change of clothes and shoes with grip — the paths are wet and the steps are slippery whatever the weather has been doing. Waterfalls run hardest in the rainy season and are clearest in the dry, and heavy rain can close a path on the day for safety. Most falls charge a small local entrance fee or donation at the gate.
