A hands-on afternoon with a ninja master in Tokyo — the throwing, the movement and the stealth, taught properly, followed by a tea ceremony and a lunch built around the theme.
The trainingYour master takes you through the iconic moves: how to move without being heard, how to hold and throw, how the body is meant to be positioned. It is taught as technique rather than performance, and no experience is needed — everybody starts at the same place.
Your guide works in English, and fills in what the training does not: where the ninja came from, what they actually did, and how a historical profession became the figure the world now recognises.
Tea and lunchThe session also includes a Japanese tea ceremony — the quiet, formal counterpart to an hour of throwing things.
Lunch at the ninja café is the signature curry udon, made black with bamboo charcoal. It looks alarming and tastes like very good curry udon. You eat it with the rest of the group.
Worth knowingWear clothes you can move in — there is crouching, reaching and throwing. The session runs in English and Japanese. Tell us at booking about any food you cannot eat, so the café can adjust the lunch.
