A 13-day China journey from Beijing to Shanghai with the Great Wall, Terracotta Warriors, Chengdu pandas, a 3-night Yangtze River cruise, and Indian meals throughout.
This 13-day journey traces China from its imperial capitals to its most recognisable modern skyline, linking Beijing, Xian, Chengdu, the Yangtze River and Shanghai in one continuous route. It combines major heritage sights, rail travel and a scenic river cruise, with private transfers and English-speaking local guides helping the trip move comfortably from city to city.
Begin in Beijing with the capital’s defining landmarks, including Tian’anmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven, then continue to the Great Wall at Juyong Pass and the Olympic Park area. The route then shifts west by high-speed train to Xian for the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the Terracotta Warriors, the city wall and historic streets that reflect the city’s long role on the Silk Road.
Before leaving Xian, the route takes in the Shaanxi History Museum, then rides the bullet train to Chengdu for a change of pace. Here the itinerary includes a day trip to Leshan to see the Giant Buddha, and time with the giant pandas at the Chengdu Research Base. An evening Sichuan Opera performance adds a local cultural note before the journey heads to Chongqing and on to the Yangtze cruise.
The cruise section is the most scenic part of the holiday, with three nights on the river and shore calls arranged according to sailing conditions. Expect views through the Three Gorges, visits such as Fengdu Ghost City, Shibaozhai Pagoda or Wanzhou, and a passage by small boat into the Lesser Three Gorges or Shennv Stream. The cruise ends at Yichang, followed by a flight to Shanghai for the final city stay.
In Shanghai, the pace becomes urban again with the Jade Buddha Temple, Yuyuan Garden, the Bund, Nanjing Road and exterior views of the Oriental Pearl TV Tower. The package is designed for travellers who want China’s best-known sights in one itinerary, with rail links, a river cruise, hotel stays and daily dinners arranged for a smoother touring rhythm.
You leave from a different place than you arrive — book an open-jaw flight, not a return.
