A 6-day journey through Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Guilin, with city sightseeing, a Pearl River cruise and a Li River cruise to Yangshuo.
Southern China & Guilin Essence brings together three very different sides of the region in one compact journey: Guangzhou’s historic streets and riverfront, Shenzhen’s modern landmark park, and Guilin’s karst scenery, where the Li River sets the pace for the trip’s most memorable day. It is a route that moves steadily from urban energy to open landscapes, with comfortable hotel stays and guided sightseeing at each stop.
The first part of the trip focuses on Guangzhou, where Yuexiu Park, the Five Rams Statue and Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street give you a clear sense of the city’s older character and everyday rhythm. In the evening, the Pearl River cruise adds a relaxed view of the skyline after dark, with illuminated towers and bridges creating a very different perspective from the daytime walk.
From Guangzhou, the journey continues to Shenzhen for a visit to Window of the World, a well-known theme park built around miniature versions of famous landmarks. It is a light, visual stop that works well between two larger travel days and gives the itinerary a change of pace before the move to Guilin by high-speed train.
Guilin is the natural centrepiece of the holiday. Elephant Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave introduce the city’s most recognisable scenery, while the Li River cruise to Yangshuo provides the long, scenic stretch that defines southern China for many travellers. Yangshuo’s West Street adds a lively finish, with cafés, small shops and an easy walking atmosphere before the return to Guilin and the end of the tour.
You leave from a different place than you arrive — book an open-jaw flight, not a return.
Arrival and departure points may vary according to your flight or train schedule.
