Overview

A full day at Bali Safari and Marine Park at the domestic rate — an admission category for Indonesian residents, which requires valid Indonesian identification at the gate.

Who this ticket is for

Read this part first. The domestic rate is not a promotion; it is a separate admission category open to Indonesian citizens and residents, and identification is checked on entry. A KTP or KITAS is what the gate expects.

Visitors without Indonesian identification are not eligible under this category and will be asked to obtain the standard admission instead. Nobody is being awkward — Indonesian attractions have run resident and visitor rates for decades, and the check at the turnstile is routine.

What to expect

  • Arrive at the park in Gianyar, on the east coast road; transfers are not part of this booking.
  • Present your booking and identification at the entrance.
  • The walkways and landscaped habitats, which you can take at your own pace.
  • Scheduled animal presentations, which run to a timetable posted at the park.
  • Dining outlets, restrooms and shops on site.
  • Several hours at least; the park is built for a full day.

The bird that exists because of breeding programmes

Bali has exactly one endemic bird, the Bali myna — white, with a blue mask and a crest — and by the early 2000s trapping for the cage-bird trade had reduced the wild population to single figures. It is one of the closest calls in modern conservation.

What saved it was captive breeding, carried out in Bali and abroad, followed by release programmes into the west of the island. Every Bali myna alive today descends from that effort. Seeing one in a park is not a poor substitute for seeing one in the wild; for this species the two are directly connected, and the park population is part of the reason a wild one still exists.

The safari part is a separate ticket

Worth knowing before you plan the day: the tram ride through the open enclosures — the thing the word safari refers to — is not part of standard admission here, and neither are feeding sessions, keeper encounters or the premium shows.

Standard admission covers the walkways, the public exhibits and the scheduled presentations, which is a substantial day in itself. But if the tram is the reason you are going, arrange it at the park; this booking does not carry it.

Practicalities

The park is on the coast road south of Ubud and there is no transfer in this booking, so plan how you are getting there and back. Parking is settled at the site.

Bring sun protection: much of the route is open ground and the presentations are in the middle of the day. If you are coming with small children, look at the timetable when you arrive and build the day around the shows rather than trying to catch them between other things.

Frequently asked

Who can use a domestic-rate ticket?

Indonesian citizens and residents. Identification is checked on entry, and the gate expects a KTP or KITAS.

What happens if I have no Indonesian ID?

You will be asked to take the standard admission instead. Separate resident and visitor categories are long-standing practice at Indonesian attractions and the check is routine.

Is the safari tram included?

No. The ride through the open enclosures is separate here, as are feeding sessions, keeper encounters and premium shows.

What does standard admission cover, then?

The walkways, the landscaped habitats, the public exhibits and the scheduled animal presentations — enough for a full day on its own.

What is the Bali myna?

The island's only endemic bird, white with a blue face mask and a crest. Trapping for the cage-bird trade cut the wild population to single figures by the early 2000s.

How did it survive?

Captive breeding in Bali and abroad, followed by release programmes in the west of the island. Every Bali myna alive descends from that work.

Are transfers included?

No. The park is on the coast road in Gianyar and getting there and back is your own arrangement; parking is settled at the site.

How should I plan the day with children?

Check the presentation timetable on arrival and build around it. The shows run to fixed times and are harder to catch if you treat them as an afterthought.
