A 600-metre vertical drop down the ridge below Sarangkot.
Speeds well past 100 km/h on a ride that is over in well under a minute.
The Annapurna range and the Pokhara valley in front of you the whole way down.
Fixed harness and cable system operated by trained staff — no technique required.
A short, self-contained activity that fits either side of a Pokhara day.
ZipFlyer Nepal runs down the ridge below Sarangkot, above Pokhara, on a cable roughly 1.8 kilometres long with about 600 metres of vertical drop. It is steep enough that you do not glide so much as fall forwards, and fast enough that the valley arrives before you have finished deciding how you feel about it.
The rideYou are fitted into a harness at the launch platform on the ridge and clipped to the cable by the crew, who run the checks and send you. There is no technique to learn and nothing to operate: the whole ride is the cable, the gradient and your own nerve.
From the moment you leave the platform the descent is almost continuous. Speeds go past 100 km/h, the ridge drops away, and the Pokhara valley opens out below with the Annapurna range standing along the skyline ahead. The ride itself lasts well under a minute, which is either the best or the worst thing about it depending on your temperament.
Getting thereThe launch site is on the Sarangkot ridge outside Pokhara, the same ridge people climb before dawn for the sunrise over the Annapurnas. Reaching it is a winding uphill drive from the lakeside; confirm with us how you are getting up there when you book, because transport is not automatically part of every booking.
Worth knowingThis is a fixed-cable activity run to the operator’s own weight and health limits, and those limits are theirs to apply on the day — expect to be weighed at check-in. Wear closed shoes and tie back long hair. Anything loose in your hands or pockets will not survive the ride, so cameras and phones need to be secured or left behind; the crew will tell you what they allow. Clear weather makes the mountain views, and the operator may hold or stand down rides in high wind or heavy cloud.
