The levels are not interchangeable

Level 148 sits at 555 metres and opens to the air, which at that height means wind you can feel and a horizon that curves. Level 125 is enclosed and calm, with instruments that let you pick out individual buildings and, after dark, redraw the city as it looked before the towers. Level 124 has the terrace most people picture, directly above the fountain lake.

You come down, not up

Holders of the upper-level ticket start at the highest point and work downwards. It is the better order: the biggest moment arrives while you still have the patience for it, and the lower decks feel like a slow decompression rather than a build-up.

Light decides what you get

Go early and the city reads as geometry — the grid, the creek, the empty desert edge where construction simply stops. Go after dark and it reads as circuitry. The slots straddling sunset give you both and are the first to sell out; they are also the most crowded stretch of the day at the railings.

What the air is doing

Between roughly May and September the haze can reduce the view to a few kilometres of white. The building operates regardless. Winter mornings are the clearest air you will get, and the difference against a summer afternoon is not subtle.

About that duration

The figure on the booking covers arrival, security screening, ticket redemption and, if you take it, the hotel leg. The part spent on the decks is a fraction of it. Plan the day around the entry time, not the total.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between level 148 and levels 124 and 125?

Level 148 is an open-air terrace at 555 metres. Level 125 is enclosed and has viewing instruments. Level 124 has the terrace overlooking the fountain lake. The upper-level ticket covers all three.

Do I go up to 148 first or last?

First. The route runs downward from the highest point, so the upper terrace comes at the start of the visit rather than the end.

Is the view worse in summer?

Often, yes. Between roughly May and September haze can cut visibility to a few kilometres. Winter mornings give the clearest air by a wide margin.

How much of the listed duration is actually spent on the decks?

A fraction of it. The rest is arrival, security, ticket redemption and the optional hotel leg. Build your day around the entry time on your ticket.

Which time slot should I choose?

Slots around sunset show the city in both daylight and lights, which is why they go first and why the railings are busiest then. Earlier or fully after dark is quieter.
